Scrapping a car without a V5C logbook

Start by telling us what is missing

You can submit an enquiry without uploading a V5C. Use the notes box to explain that you do not have it. We will discuss what you need to bring before arranging the handover; a missing logbook does not remove the need for identity and authority checks.

Do I need to upload documents?

No. On & Gone does not ask for photographs of your logbook, passport or driving licence through the quote form. Keep the original documents we agree with you ready for checking in person.

Notifying DVLA without the logbook

GOV.UK says that if you sell or transfer a vehicle without its logbook, you must notify DVLA by post. The online service cannot be used without a logbook.

Your letter needs your name and address, the registration, make and model, the exact sale date, and the new keeper or motor trader's name and address. Check the current postal instructions on GOV.UK: sold or transferred a vehicle before sending it.
