Mechanical Failure Vehicle Recovery

Mechanical Failure Vehicle Recovery

Mechanical faults can leave a vehicle completely immobilised or able to move only a short distance. Onagone accepts recovery requests where a vehicle needs transporting because of a suspected mechanical failure.

Common situations

Examples include a car that will not start, drivetrain problems, cooling-system faults, suspension damage, clutch or gearbox problems, steering faults and other failures where continuing the journey may not be practical or safe. The cause does not need to be diagnosed before you request recovery.

Describe the symptoms

Tell us what happened immediately before the problem, whether the engine runs, whether the vehicle selects neutral, whether it rolls and steers, and whether there are leaks or visible damage. If a wheel or brake is locked, see recovery with seized brakes or wheels.

Where can the vehicle be taken?

A recovery request can include transport to a garage, workshop, home or another suitable destination, subject to the job being accepted. See recovery to a garage for workshop collections and deliveries.

Not sure whether it is safe to continue?

Read our guide for a car that still runs but may be unsafe to drive. If the car will not start at all, see car won't start.
