Vehicle Recovery With No Keys

Vehicle Recovery With No Keys

A vehicle can sometimes need moving when the keys are lost, damaged or unavailable. That does not automatically mean it can be loaded in the same way as a normal running vehicle, so Onagone asks for the vehicle condition before accepting the job.

Can a car be recovered without keys?

It depends on the vehicle and where it is parked. Steering locks, electronic parking brakes, locked transmissions, wheel position, access around the vehicle and whether it rolls freely can all affect loading. Tell us clearly that no keys are available when submitting the request so the job can be assessed before confirmation.

Information to provide

  • Registration, make and model.
  • Collection and destination locations.
  • Whether the vehicle is locked.
  • Whether the steering is locked.
  • Whether the wheels roll freely.
  • Whether an electronic or mechanical parking brake is applied.
  • Any access restrictions around the vehicle.

Photos can also help explain unusual access or vehicle condition.

Do not force the vehicle to move

A locked transmission, steering system or brake should not simply be dragged or forced. The appropriate loading method depends on the individual vehicle and situation.
