How to Prepare a Non-Runner Car for Vehicle Transport
Share
A non-running vehicle often needs more planning than a normal roadworthy car. Giving accurate information before collection helps the recovery operator assess how the vehicle can be loaded and whether the collection point is suitable.
Check whether it rolls and steers
A car that does not start may still roll freely and steer. A vehicle with seized brakes, locked steering, damaged suspension or missing wheels is a different loading job. Describe the actual condition rather than simply saying the car is a non-runner.
Keys and access
Have the keys available where possible and make sure the vehicle can be reached. Mention underground parking, height restrictions, narrow entrances, soft ground or other access issues before collection.
Loose belongings
Remove valuables and secure loose items. If the vehicle has accident damage, do not handle sharp or unstable components unnecessarily.
